Newsfeeds and OPML

Tags:

When you gather a collection of feeds and it gets to be larger than a dozen or so - or if you want to access feeds from different online apps - it's worth using a reader like FeedReader (or Bloglines, etc) which can import & export OPML files*. Most decent newsfeed aggregators can import and export OPML lists of RSS feeds. These are a different type of XML file intended to transport RSS addresses.

See the Wikipedia definition of OPML for more...

A couple of quick referrals re feed readers - for online access, try Netvibes, but, being an inveterate dabbler, I also use Google Reader and Bloglines as well as a USB-mounted application (the excellent freebie FeedReader). (Oh and Google toolbar also can show scraped feeds in the sidebar... and then there's browser ones that come with Firefox, Maxthon, Opera.... etc etc..

As we saw, RSS links are really simple to gather; the trouble may be that, like me, you gather too many... surprised
